11/8/23: Here’s To You, Miss Robinson; The Walker Is Not The Airmailer
WCCC Wednesday Night, presented by Route 1 Vapors, drew 48 throwers to try their luck at The Brook.
The return of the single elimination format also meant the return of the best-of-three finals and we had a dandy with top-seeded Sammi Jo Robinson & Matty Iannello facing off with 2nd seeded Gary Clifford & Tyler Callahan.
Both ends exchanged washes to open Game 1, before Iannello opened the scoring with a 3, then after another was extended the lead to 9-0 with a six pack in the fifth round. Robinson, who had been quiet early on, claimed a single and then followed a wash with a snowman, 8 big points making it an 18-0 drubbing after eight rounds. You could have forgiven Clifford & Callahan for deciding to just give up the ghost here and regroup for the next tilt, but their attitude of “game’s to 21” helped them build a comeback, a fourbagger 4 by Clifford countered by a deuce for Robinson leading to Clifford with a 3 to keep things alive. Another was was followed by a 2nd Clifford fourbagger 4 to make the score 20-11, but Robinson closed the show in style, hitting on the slots with a 7 to finish off a 27-11 Game 1 victory after fourteen rounds.
Game 2 opened similarly to Game 1, with a wash, but Callahan, heretofore a passenger in these finals, hit a fourbagger for the six-pack to jump out to a 6-0 lead. Points in three of the next four rounds, including a 4 and a 3 by Robinson, turned the tide, however, giving Robinson & Iannello an 8-6 lead after six rounds. Clifford immediately fought back, with a four, and Callahan followed with a deuce. Clifford appeared to have maintained momentum with a single, but Robinson dropped a fourbagger of her own for 6 to turn the game on its head and give them a 14-13 lead after ten. When it looked like the brooms were coming out for the imminent sweep, Clifford & Callahan came roaring back one more time, missing one of their final twelve bags. A deuce by Clifford took the lead back, then a fourbagger 4 by Callahan put his side on the brink of evening the series. Clifford ensured that with a fourbagger 5, closing out a 24-14 Game 2 victory after thirteen rounds and forcing a decisive Game 3.
Robinson, clearly displeased by this turn of events, immediately banged in a fourbagger and got 8 for her efforts. A wash then led to another Robinson fourbagger, though this one only posted a deuce, making it 10-0 after three. Clifford then came right back with a half-dozen and Callahan built on that with a fourbagger for a deuce, turning a 10-0 laugher into a 10-8 nailbiter after five. Iannello, who had cooled off after his hot start, sprang back to life with a four to stifle the opposition momentum for a round, but Callahan sandwiched a pair of singles around a Clifford deuce, making it 14-12 after nine rounds. Iannello continued his resurgence, posting another 4, answered by Clifford with a fourbagger 2, making it 18-14 and sleaving the outcome in doubt. Iannello, however, posted his third 4 in four rounds to finally score the knockout blow, an epic three game finals ending with a Robinson/Iannello 22-14 Game 3 victory to claim the title.
The return of the 3rd place game saw Domenic Branden & Scott Pelletier face off against Jesob Rockwell & Cathy MacKay. It was close early on, as an opening 4 by Pelletier was countered by a Rockwell 3. That was as close as it got, as Branden & Pelletier scored multiple points in five of the next six rounds, with the final two rounds featuring a 7 by Pelletier and a 3 by Branden to polish off an easy 22-5 win after eight rounds to snag the final podium spot.
All three spots on the podium were represented in the top 3 PPRs, as Sammi Jo Robinson fired her team to victory with a stellae 8.52, while Scott Pelletier’s 8.42 claimed him a bronze. Tyler Callahan was third in PPR and the runner-up in the tournament on the back of an 8.28. Callahan also led the charts with 10 fourbaggers on the night.
After Mike Pigatti (yes, Mike Pigatti) drained half of the airmail pot last week, it worked its way up to $793, for $198 a bag. Stephen “The Walker” Langlois was drawn, but didn’t seriously threaten the pipe, leaving the entire amount to roll over to next week.

10/4/23: Kenney Gives BJ Victory; No Burke-To-Burke Airmail
WCCC Wednesday Night, presented by Route 1 Vapors, featured the last Switcholio of 2023 to take place at The Winner’s Circle, and a strong field of 56 came out to do battle.
The finals featured the reigning WCCC Player of the Month Brian Johnson teamed with Eric Kenney to take on Jermaine King, appearing in his third straight finals, and Matt LaCava, making his 2023 WCCC debut.
Johnson & Kenney flew out of the blocks quickly in Game 1, a Kenney 7 capping a 13-0 blitz over the first three rounds. LaCava slowed things down with a deuce, and a wash in the next round was a hopeful omen for King & LaCava, but Johnson sandwiched a 5 and a 4 around a wash to end Game 1 in a 22-2 blowout after eight rounds.
Game 2 started out hot, but this time in King & LaCava’s favor, as King scored 8 while LaCava held to give their side an 8-0 lead after three. Johnson swiftly struck back with one whole hand of his own, but King responded with half a dozen to give them a 14-5 lead after five. King & LaCava looked poised to roll to victory and force a Game 3, but this was their high water mark of the finals, as a pair of 3s and then a six-pack turned that 14-5 lead to a 17-14 deficit in three quick rounds. A wash was the last bit of calm, as Johnson ground out a greasy 4-2 round for a deuce, and then Kenney closed the show emphatically, a fourbagger with only 1 in return making for an 11 point round and the sweep with a 30-14 Game 2 victory after eleven rounds.
The third place game featured Kevin Gallagher & Mike Pigatti vs Ryan Burke & Jesob Rockwell. The explosive scoring that was found in the finals did not make their way over to the other court, as this was more like Chinese water torture. Burke & Rockwell started brightly, building a 6-0 lead over five rounds, before a Pigatti 5 made it 6-5. The next four rounds? Wash, wash, wash…and wash. After that scintillating stretch, we got a single from Gallagher to make it 6-6 after eleven rounds, which is how long the longer game of the finals lasted. A pair of deuces by Burke & Ferguson looked to see them pull away, but another Pigatti 5 gave his team a 11-10 lead. A six-pack for Rockwell pulled them out to a 16-11 lead, but their opponents chipped away, a pair of deuces of their own and a Pigatti single leveled the scores at 16-all an amazing eighteen rounds in. Another was led to a Burke 4 to put his side on the brink, but Gallagher made a shove shot with his last bag to save the game with another wash. Pigatti then mirrored the final, closing the show with a fourbagger while his opponent could only muster a 5 to put Gallagher & Pigatti on the last step of the podium with an epic 23-20 victory over TWENTY-TWO rounds, three rounds more than both games of the finals combined.
In the consolation tier, Mike McNamara Sr & WCCC newcomer Paul Downey defeated Katy Singlar & Anna Sorensen 22-15.
The finals produced all of the top PPRs, with Eric Kenney’s 8.34 followed by Jermaine King’s 8.15 and Brian Johnson’s 8.13. Johnson led the way with 8 fourbaggers.
For the first time in just over 5 months, the airmail failed to reach $1000, with $898 on offer. Ryan Burke, who had been drawn the previous week and hit a bag, got a chance to go back-to-back, but did not seriously threaten the hole, rolling over the entire amount.

9/13/23: The Walker Strolls To Victory; Bushway Shaves Large Tuft Of Airmail
WCCC Wednesday Night, presented by Route 1 Vapors, was forced to The Brook due to the rainy weather in the area, and a solid crowd did battle in the familiar confines of their ballroom.
Stephen “The Walker” Lamglois & Zach Magee overcame a tight 22-20 loss in their final round robin game to rip off 5 straight playoff wins to take the crown. In the finals, they faced Eric Kenney, who had won the previous week’s tournament, and Cathy MacKay, who had not.
Kenney & MacKay got off to a bright start, a 4 by Kenney springing them to a 4-0 lead. Langlois & Magee fired right back, however, with a 5 and a 3 to grab an 8-4 lead. MacKay then sandwiched a pair of singles around a wash, making it 8-6 after six rounds. Magee then grabbed a pair of singles of his own while Langlois & MacKay shared a pair of washes to land at 10-6 after ten rounds. When it appeared the seesaw was going to continue to go up and down, it landed with a thud. A Magee 4 followed by a Langlois deuce gave them momentum, which after a greasy 3-3 wash Langlois was able to use to post a 5 to finish off Game 1 by a score of 21-6 after fourteen rounds.
Game 2 started very similarly to Game 1, with half a dozen by Kenney opening up a quick 6-0 lead, but this time MacKay followed with a deuce and the 8-0 lead then held through three consecutive washes. Langlois then got his own six-pack & Magee his own deuce to level the score at 8 after seven rounds. Langlois then gave his side their first lead of Game 2 with a deuce, but after a wash yielded a 3 to MacKay to give Kenney & MacKay a 11-10 lead after ten. Kenney then hit for 3 to go up 14-10, but then his team completely hit the wall. A 5 for Langlois completely swung the score and momentum in their favor, and Magee followed with a deuce to make it 17-14. Langlois then went for half a dozen for the 2nd time in Game 2 to seal the sweep by a score of 23-14 after fourteen rounds.
The third place game was a wild affair contested by the teams of Corey Rabeau & Arthur Picanco and Tyler Callahan & Phil Jackson. It was a laugher early, as Jackson & Callahan opened with deuces before Jackson slapped up a 5 for a 9-0 lead after three rounds. Picanco landed an immediate haymaker with a snowman 8, and Rabeau posted a deuce to give his side a 10-9 lead. A deuce by Callahan snatched the lead right back, while a Jackson single extended it to 12-10. A single by Picanco & a deuce by Rabeau made their deficit short-lived, however. The tenth round saw the first wash of the third place game. A 3 by Rabeau & a single by Picanco seemed to give them some breathing room at 17-10, but a Jackson 5 moonwalked them back to a 17-15 game. What looked to be a grandstand finish fizzled out, though, as Picanco ground out a 2, Rabeau ground out 1, and Picanco ground out another 2 – none of those three rounds seeing more than 6 posted by the scorers – to finish things at 22-15 after sixteen rounds to claim the final podium spot.
Chris Cole, whose partner left before the playoffs, won the consolation tier with a 23-12 victory over Rachel Jean & Eric Gosselin.
Chris Cole topped the PPR charts with a solid 8.68, while Jesob Rockwell was close behind with an 8.32. Finalists Eric Kenney & Stephen Langlois tied for 3rd with identical 8.18s. Kenney also led with 11 fourbaggers.
Airmail reached $3697, for $924 a bag, and it was WCCC Hall of Famer Rich Bushway who got called to the line. He missed the first bag, decided he didn’t like missing, so chose not to, burying his last 3 bags for a $2772 score. $925 rolls over to next week.

9/6/23: Johnson Big Again; Langlois Finally Breaks Airmail Schneid
Our monthly Switcholio, presented by Route 1 Vapors, attracted 54 players on an unseasonably warm and muggy night, and a great night of cornhole was had.
Brian Johnson & Eric Kenney terrorized all comers in the playoffs, slicing through 5 games undefeated with an average margin of victory of 17.8 to seize the title.
Johnson & Kenney met the duo of Kevin Ke & Mike Pigatti in the finals, and got Game 1 off to a quick start with a Kenney 5. Ke fired right back with a 5 of his own, however, and made it look like a shootout was on the cards. That, however, was not to be, as Johnson & Kenney battered the opposition, scoring in the next six rounds, each of them scoring 4 to finish off a 21-5 blitzing after eight rounds.
Johnson & Kenney kept the momentum into Game 2, a half dozen from Kenney the highlight of a rush that saw his side lead 11-0 after four rounds. Pigatti slowed down the wave with a deuce, but after a wash a fourbagger 9 for Kenney put his side on the brink at 20-2. At this point Ke & Pigatti showed some resistance, a 3 by Ke followed by a single by Pigatti and a single by Ke brought it to 20-7. This is where it would end, though, as a greasy, dirty 4-2 round in favor of Kenney was enough to complete the sweep with a 22-7 win after eleven rounds.
The 3rd place game was contested between Zach Magee & Chris Paquette and Mike McNamara Sr and Corey Rabeau. Much like Game 2 of the finals, a team jumped out to a quick lead, here being Magee & Paquette grabbing an 8-0 lead after four rounds. Rabeau poked back with a single, but a 6 point fourbagger from Paquette put his teams firmly in control at 14-1. a wash and a Paquette deuce made it 16-1 after nine rounds. McNamara then threw a haymaker out of nowhere, sinking all four bags to claim and 8 and all of a sudden closing the deficit to 16-9. Magee & Paquette fought right back, however, each of them posting 3s to claim the final podium spot with a 22-9 win.
John Mahoney & Jason Burke defeated Steve Marshall & Eric Gosselin in the consolation tier final by a score of 25-17.
Sam Sok socked it to the competition with a golden 9.10 PPR to lead all players. Eric Kenney beat out his championship partner Brian Johnson by .02, his 8.56 just ahead of Johnson’s 8.54. Johnson also topped the fourbagger leaderboard with 11.
Airmail has been pretty resilient lately, and grew on this night to $4348, for $1087 per bag, the biggest pot since March 8th. Keegan Langlois was drawn, never having drained an airmail bag at a WCCC event. Three bags later, that still held true, but became a lie after the final bag, which rattled home to win himself $1087. $3261 rolls over to next week.

8/9/23: Lady Of The Podium Does It Again; Jesob Does Not Rock Airmail Well
A nice 69 players came out for WCCC Wednesday Night @ The Winner’s Circle, presented by Route 1 Vapors.
Sammi Jo Robinson hit the top of the podium for the 2nd week in a row, this time teaming with Scott Pelletier to rip through a strong field by going 11-0 and sweeping the finals over Wayne McCarthy & Jesob Rockwell.
Game 1 was a close affair early on, as a Robinson fourbagger for 5 was rebutted with a Rockwell 4 for an early 5-4 game. Robinson & Pelletier simply decided at this point to execute their opponents, with six straight scoring rounds, starting with a pair of Robinson 4s sandwiching a Pelletier 3, as what was a close game early turned into a 21-4 laugher after eight rounds.
Game 2 started in McCarthy & Rockwell’s favor, as a McCarthy deuce followed by a Rockwell single made it 3-0 after two. Robinson & Pelletier then reprised their Game 1 roles as executioners, scoring in five straight rounds, a Robinson 9 in the fifth round the highlight, as they completed a 21-3 demolition in seven rounds to cap off a title and an aggregate score of 42-7 over fifteen largely one-sided rounds in the finals series.
Slightly more competitive was the 3rd place game, which featured Ryan Goding & Stephen Langlois vs Alan Titcomb & Rich Bushway. This stayed competitive longer than the finals, as Bushway had a pair of deuces sandwiched around a Goding 5 to open things. Three straight deuces, two by Goding and one by Langlois, opened up a 11-4 lead. Bushway dropped a deuce of his own to make it 11-6 after seven rounds, but Goding & Langlois then kicked it into another gear, capping off their efforts with three straight fourbaggers to run out 26-6 winners after twelve rounds to claim the final podium spot.
Continuing the theme of blowout losses in money games, Dave MacKay & Tyler Callahan routed Matty Iannello & Dan Callahan 26-1 to claim consolation tier honors.
Rich Gabe claimed top PPR honors with a sterling 8.65, with Ryan Goding following with an 8.33 and Dominic Lander with an 8.08. Gabe also impressively topped the fourbagger charts with 10 despite playing the minimum number of games a player could have played with 7.
Airmail grew to $3307, and Jesob Rockwell, no stranger to big airmail pots, got the call. He was not able to hit the mark, however, and the entire amount rolls over to next week.

8/2/23: Lady Is The Champ; Lowry Rims 2nd Chance At Airmail
Our monthly Switcholio attracted 60 players for WCCC Wednesday Night @ The Winner’s Circle, presented by Route 1 Vapors.
Continuing a trend of new faces on our finals broadcasts, we had 4 players vying for their first WCCC titles of 2023, with Sammi Jo Robinson & Stephen Langlois taking on Heidi Harrington & Eddie Azamor for top honors.
Game 1 started out fairly evenly, as Robinson posted a deuce witb an opening fourbagger & Langlois followed with a 3 before Harrington answered with a 4 to make it 5-4 Robinson & Langlois after three rounds. Langlois then hit the slot machine winner with a 7 to extend their lead to 12-4, and then followed a wash with a deuce to make it 14-4. The game then entered a phase where it resembled a Chinese laundry, with seemingly endless washes. Four washes in a row ensued, leaving it 14-4 after ten rounds. Azamor finally broke through with a single, but Langlois followed with a 5 to firmly establish control. Azamor hit back with a deuce, but Langlois, with his 5th straight 10 round, got the 3 points to finish off Game 1 and give his side a 22-7 win after fourteen rounds.
Game 2 started slowly, with a single by Robinson in the third round the only point to, well, that point. Robinson & Langlois then chose brutal violence, with 5 straight rounds of 10 to overwhelm their opponents on their way to a 21-0 whitewash after eight one-sided rounds to sweep the finals.
The third place game had a pair of familiar faces partnering with those finding the air more rarefied in this phase of the tournament, with Dominic Lander pairing with WCCC debutant Steve Tripp to take on Sandy Peacock and Dave MacKay. Lander & Tripp opened brightly, as a Peacock opening single was followed by a Tripp deuce and a Lander 3 to make it 5-1 after three. Peacock & MacKay then laid the hammer down, a MacKay 3 followed by a Peacock 4. MacKay then matched his team’s scoring from the previous two rounds, hitting his own slot machine winner 7 to rush out to a 15-5 lead. Lander then slowed down the onslaught with a 4, but MacKay, hotter than a three dollar pistol, then roared back with a 5 to put his team on the brink at 20-9. If you’re scoring at home, that was 15 points for MacKay over his previous 3 rounds. Lander did not wilt, firing back with a 5 before MacKay finished his white-hot run with a deuce to take the game and final podium spot by a score of 22-14.
In the consolation tier final, Tyler Callahan & Eric McLaughlin defeated Jodie Voishnis & Chris Cole by a score of 28-17.
Top PPRs for the night went to Sandy Peacock with an excellent 8.84, followed by Dominic Lander at 8.33 and Scott Pelletier at 8.32. Peacock fueled her top of the pops PPR with a night leading 9 fourbaggers.
Airmail arrived neatly on the dot at $2800, for $700 a bag, and for the second week in a row a thrower from the last two weeks got a chance at redemption, as fan favorite Kevin Lowry took another shot at the dough. Two wayward bags were followed by two bags that hit the back rim of the pipe and skittered off, leaving the entire amount intact and rolling over to next week.

7/19/23: From The Mountain To The Circle, Titcomb & Callahan Win; Lowry Failed To Dip Into Airmail
58 throwers came out to strut their stuff at WCCC Wednesday Night @ The Winner’s Circle, presented by Route 1 Vapors.
It was another week of fresh faces in the semifinals and finals, with Shannon Titcomb & Tyler Callahan teaming up to face off against Alex Szymanski & Todd Rabeau for the title. None of the finalists had a Wednesday championship entering the night, so we were guaranteed first-timers at the top of the podium.
Game 1 was an even affair at first, with a wash followed by matching deuces and matching 4s to make it 6-6 after five rounds. Titcomb & Callahan seemed to have pulled away with a deuce on a fourbagger by Titcomb & a 4 by Callahan to make it 13-6. A Rabeau 2 and a Szymanski 3 pulled it back to 13-11, but after a wash Titcomb & Callahan rolled to 8 straight points over the next three rounds to secure a 21-11 victory after thirteen rounds.
Game 2 followed a similar trajectory in reverse as Szymanski & Rabeau leapt to a 4-0 lead after two rounds, but Titcomb & Callahan shot back into the lead with 5 points over the next two rounds. Szymanski fired right back with a 4 to retake the lead at 8-5, but after a wash Callahan claimed a 4 of his own to nose back in front 9-8. Titcomb recorded a deuce to extend the lead to 11-8, and then the Szymanski-Rabeau pairing just exploded, posting SEVEN straight scoring rounds, nothing more than 3 in a round, but the onslaught was enough to end in a 15-0 run and a 23-11 victory that knotted the series at 1-1 and necessitated a winner-take-all Game 3.
Game 3 started with a bang, as Titcomb roared out of the gate with a 9 to get her side almost halfway home after one round. Two washes and a deuce by Szymanski slowed things down, but Titcomb extended their lead to 12-2 with a 3 after five rounds. A wash and trading of singles made it 13-3, and Szymanski & Rabeau chipped away with a 2 and a 1 to make it 13-6 before Rabeau got himself an entire boulder, an 8 spot that turned things completely around and gave his team a 14-13 lead after eleven rounds. Many teams would have folded after losing a late lead in Game 3 on a big swing like that, but Titcomb and Callahan dug deep, with a deuce, a wash, and a single reclaiming the lead 16-14. When another swing seemed imminent, Titcomb posted a 3 to quell an uprising, and Callahan landed the knockout blow with a 7 to finish off an epic finals by a score of 26-14 in the decisive game.
The third place game had little drama, as Sammi Jo Robinson & Eddie Azamor allowed Matty Iannello & Corey Rabeau to open with a 3 before subjecting them to a back-alley beating, a Robinson 5 and an Azamor 10 pointing the way to a 25-3 victory in seven decisive rounds to claim the final podium spot by a score of 25-3.
Gary Clifford, a champion of women’s equality, a true American patriot, and a man who picks up his trash, won the consolation tier for the 2nd week running, this time teaming with WCCC debutant Braylon Lupa to defeat walker Chris Cole 22-1 in the final.
Keegan Langlois led the way with a sterling 9.23 PPR, while Scott Pelletier was 2nd with an 8.49 and Sammi Jo Robinson right behind with an 8.4. Langlois also led the way with 12 fourbaggers.
Airmail has been invincible lately, growing to $2871, for $717 a bag. Fan favorite Kevin Lowry got the call, but despite threatening the tube could not find the hole, leaving the entire amount for next week.
It was All-American Night, and Gary Clifford crushed the field to win with his American spirit, but Matt Simons did show out well also.

7/12/23: Voishnis Wanted To Win With Somebody, Kenney Obliges; Sen Say Gets Waxed In Airmail
A beautiful night of weather greeted us at WCCC Wednesday Night @ The Winner’s Circle, presented by Route 1 Vapors.
If last week’s finals theme was star power, this week’s was about some new faces finding their way to the podium. The finals were contested by Jodie Voishnis (first finals of 2023) & her partner Eric Kenney (3rd) vs Jamie Paquette (1st) & Corey Rabeau (2nd).
Game 1 was a somewhat drawn out slaughter, as Voishnis & Kenney sliced through their opponents like a knife through butter, scoring in nine of the eleven rounds and pitching a shutout to the tune of 24-0. Six of the eleven rounds saw Voishnis & Kenney post 10s, with no round lower than a 6.
Game 2 showed signs of life from Paquette & Rabeau, who didn’t let their Game 1 drubbing get them down, as they raced into a 7-0 lead after two rounds, a Rabeau deuce followed by a Paquette 5. Kenney was able to stem the tide somewhat with a 3, but Paquette roared back with another 4 to make it 11-3. Two washes were able to kill any momentum Paquette & Rabeau had, as a pair of 4s from Kenney bookended 7 more points in the intervening three rounds, turning that 11-3 deficit into an 18-11 lead in the span of those five rounds. Paquette & Rabeau weren’t finished, however, as a single from Paquette and a pair of deuces shrank the lead to 18-16. Kenney then landed the knockout blow, a fourbagger that was only met with a 4 in return from Rabeau to finish off a 26-16 victory after fifteen rounds and sweep of the finals.
The third place game had one familiar podium face and three relative newcomers, as reigning WCCC Player of the Month Rich Bushway teamed with Jason Burke to take on Chris Paquette (brother of runner-up Jamie) & Zach Magee. This one looked like it was going to be a laugher like Game 1 of the finals, with Bushway opening with a 5 and his side opening up a 9-1 lead after four rounds. Paquette & Magee did manage to grab a foothold in the game a Magee deuce followed by three from Paquette. Bushway then ground out the greasiest deuce imaginable, a 3-1 round that Burke followed with a single to double up the opposition 12-6. Two washes and the teams trading singles later, it was 13-7 after twelve. The inaction continued with another wash, and then Paquette & Magee roared to life, a Paquette 4 and a Magee deuce leveling the scores at 13, a Paquette single giving them the lead, a Magee 3 extending the lead to 17-13, and then the haymaker from Paquette with a 5 spot, a 15-0 run over five rounds that left Bushway & Burke reeling and Paquette & Magee on the final podium spot.
The consolation finals were won by Gary Clifford, a champion of women’s equality, and WCCC newcomer Steve Champney, who won a slugfest over Katy Singlar & WCCC newcomer Crystal Linehan by a score of 22-20.
Top PPRs on the night went to Eric Kenney at 8.09, Steve Singlar at 7.77, and Tom O’Hara at 7.74. Kenney also topped the fourbagger charts with 10.
Airmail grew to $2628, for $657 a bag, and Sen Say got his name called for the first time. He threatened the pipe, but ultimately came away empty-handed, rolling the entire amount over to next week.

7/5/23: Peacock & Bush Bang Out Win; Airmail Pipe Lays It To Debutant
The warmest night of the year attracted 55 throwers to our monthly Switcholio at WCCC Wednesday Night @ The Winner’s Circle, presented by Route 1 Vapors.
There was a lot of star power in the finals, as reigning WCCC Player of the Month Rich Bushway teamed with local stalwart Sandy Peacock to face off with veteran Maine campaigner Ryan Goding & Brian Kelly.
Bushway & Peacock got off to a hot start, with a Bushway 4 and a Peacock 5 making it a quick 9-0 after two rounds. Goding responded with a deuce, and it looks like another wild swing was in store as we have seen in recent weeks in the finals. This time, however, Bushway & Peacock simply meted out a vicious beating, with a pair of Peacock deuces interspersed with two washes making it 13-2 before Peacock laid down half a dozen and Bushway hit lucky number 7 to finish off a 26-2 bloodbath after nine rounds.
Game 2 started a bit more slowly but still in favor of the Game 1 winners, with Bushway & Peacock taking a 3-0 lead after three rounds. Goding then responded with a deuce, but unlike Game 1, this did not spark an unrepentant beating. Bushway & Peacock were able to take a lead of 6-2 , but in the seventyh round Kelly, who heretofore had been largely anonymous in this final, came roaring to life with a 3, then followed a Bushway deuce with a 5, and all of a sudden after nine rounds Goding & Kelly had their first lead of the finals at 10-8. THIS is where Bushway & Peacock responded back hard, a Bushway single followed by a Peacock fourbagger making it 15-10 and setting up what appeared to be a sweep. The next four rounds did nothing to dispel this notion, as they built a 19-11 lead after sixteen rounds and were poised for the knockout blow. However, in a flurry that would have flattered Muhammad Ali, Kelly posted a deuce, Goding followed with a 5, and Kelly then struck for half a dozen, a stomach punch that turned a 19-11 deficit into a 24-19 victory in three short rounds, knotting the series at 1 and setting up a winner-take-all Game 3.
Bushway & Peacock were able to stem the tide to open the decider, a three by Bushway giving them a foothold. Goding & Kelly weren’t about to let their wave crash that easily, a 4 by Kelly and a 3 by Goding swinging things back to them at 7-3, They then traded singles, and after a wash the score sat at 8-4 in favor of Goding & Kelly after six rounds. Bushway & Peacock, who had started things with a Game 1 rout and then led 19-11 in Game 2 before everything collapsed, were staring into the abyss, but chose violence instead. A deuce by Bushway was followed by a Peacock 5, and Bushway ground out a dirty 6-2 round for a 4 and a complete reversal of fortune, that 8-4 deficit transformed into a 15-8 lead after nine rounds. A single for Peacock extended the lead, then Goding & Kelly were able to slow the rapids with a wash and 3 straight singles to make it 16-11. A grandstand finish seemed imminent, but Bushway & Peacock fired off matching 4 spots to get over the line 24-11 and take an epic finals.
Dramatic doings were not limited to the finals, as Brian Johnson & Dan Leahy, making his 2023 debut, squared off against Chris Cole & Steve Marshall for the bronze. Cole & Marshall were dominant early, a Marshall opening 5 beig the first salvo in what brought his side to an 8-2 lead after five rounds. Johnson managed to slow it down with a single, but Marshall scored one whole hand for the 2nd time in the match, making it 13-3 and putting the podium in sight. After trading deuces, Johnson dug deep and posted half a dozen and Leahy found his own reserves to follow with a 4, levelling proceedings at 15 after eleven rounds, A wash then set up the wild finish. Marshall hit yet another big one, a 4 putting them in the brink at 19-15, but Johnson two-upped him, a six-shooter being the final blast in a crazy 21-19 finish, giving Johnson & Leahy the final podium spot.
In the Consolation Tier final, Zach Magee & Todd Rabeau defeated Sean McKinnon & Connor Kelly by a score of 23-16.
Three players topped the 8 mark in PPR, with Brian Johnson leading the way at 8.21. Tying for the 2nd spot were Jesob Rockwell & Rich Bushway with identical 8.08s. Sandy Peacock led the way with 11 fourbaggers.
Airmail has gotten healthier by the week, and came oh-so-close to the $600/bag mark, settling at $2393 for $598/bag. WCCC debutant Adam Johnson had the beginner’s luck, getting called to the mark to take his shot. Four bags later, the pipe remained empty, and the entire amount rolls over to next week.
