The name “Rich” and its derivatives finds its way to the podium again and again, and WCCC Wednesday Night at The Brook, presented by Route 1 Vapors, was no exception this week.
Richie Caram & Wayne McCarthy dusted the competition, going 7-0 en route to claiming the top spot, culminating in a 23-8 thumping of Rich Bushway & Brian Johnson in the finals. McCarthy saved the best for last, posting his best PPR of the night in the final with a robust 9.29. 19 of his 28 bags found the hole, while a single solitary sack did not score for the man they call Sawdust. Interestingly enough, Richie threw a perfect game in pool play, with 8 of 8 bags finding the hole. In the 3rd place game, John Mahoney fired a huge 10.17 PPR over 6 rounds to help lead partner Travis O’Brien to a 22-2 blowout of Mike Gertz & Phil Jackson to claim the final podium spot.
Due to general stupidity, we only managed to get a picture tonight of our bronze medal winners, but since those sweet new Route 1 Vapors boards are there, we had to post it!
Top 3 PPR for the night were bunched very close, with Scott Pelletier at 8.20, Ryan Goding at 8.18, and Brian Johnson at 8.17. Johnson and Rich Bushway led all players with 6 fourbaggers apiece.
In a case of deja vu all over again, Zack Hoover was pulled for airmail for the 2nd week in a row. With a pot only $13 less than last week’s $1097, Zack could have courted disaster but instead got a little more rich than usual, hitting 2 bags for a $542 win. That same $542 figure will roll over to next week.
